Summer is here and travel is on our minds with Asia featuring predominantly in our journeys. It’s always good to look at the world from another perspective. With economic uncertainty and geopolitical tensions the demand for flights has softened. Airfares are decreasing, which is unusual in this peak travel season, as people try to figure out how to move forward.
We're keeping our attention on Asia for this issue's feature as writer and curator Phil Zheng Cai dives into A new topology in Chinese and Vietnamese contemporary photography. Focusing on seven artists, both within their home countries and in the diaspora, Cai considers the evolution of contemporary photographic practice in these countries and how these young artists challenge the conventional ideas of photography.
